Piercings on the Catwalk: The Most Fabulous Looks from Fashion Week 2017

New York Fashion Week may be a show where the clothes are paraded down a runway but it is about so much more. It is about all forms of fashion – from clothing to makeup and from shoes to jewelry. Piercings made a couple of notable appearances on and off the runway this year along with some fabulous looks to go in those piercings.

One of the piercings that was covered everywhere was actually not a piercing at all. Millie Bobby Brown had a bejeweled, faux lip piercing in the front row of the Calvin Klein show. As one of the faces of Calvin Klein, all eyes were on her and this is sure to become more mainstream. This is a continuation of the Instagram trend that Kim Kardashian kicked off.

Gucci went for a very androgynous look this season on the runway, and septum piercings were a part of it. There were strong, metallic, horn septum piercings and more delicate hoop piercings.

Septum Rings

His collection was said to be inspired by the ballerina Anna Pavlova and her love of traveling. Khan paired his cocktail dresses, jumpsuits and gowns with septum rings. They were large hoops with had decorative bits hanging off them. What made them even more notable were the chains that went from the septum ring into the models’ hair. Those chains seemed to feed into the half wreath of flowers that sat upon the model’s up-dos on the back of their heads.

The earrings seen throughout a lot of the shows were large and metallic. The Fenty X Puma Show, along with a few other shows, had large hoop earrings that dominated their jewelry looks.

Colovos seemed to also be channeling the strong metallic earring. They had a large earring in a disc with a very graphic curve to it. It gave off an almost industrial look.
Overall, we see a strong trend developing – one that brings your piercings in for not only edge but for balance. These lighter looks are grounded in the metallic pieces. They give the whole look a little more substance and weight. We are going to be seeing that replicated all spring and definitely over social media.
